Audrey Dowling (President) A mother of two gifted sons, Audrey has been a teacher of the gifted and talented for 17 years and has long been an active advocate for gifted education. She has served on the board for many years, most recently as vice-president. She has also been a member of GETS Network (Gifted Education Advisory Board for the New York State Department of Education. |

Christy Folsom (Secretary) Christy is an assistant professor at Lehman College, CUNY in the Bronx where she teaches courses in childhood education. She specializes in instruction in curriculum development that includes teaching of thinking and social-emotional skills. |

Leticia Hahn (Treasurer) Dr. Leticia Hernández de Hahn is a faculty member in the Department of Education at Niagara University and works in close collaboration with the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented at the University of Connecticut. She earned a B.A. in Education from the Panamerican University in Mexico City, a M.A. in Special Education from the University of the Americas, also in Mexico City, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut. After having spent three years in the west coast, working at Redlands University, CA, and at the Iberoamerican University, Mexico, where she taught courses in Educational Research, Educational Psychology, and Bilingual/Bicultural Education, she moved to Munich, Germany. There, she worked at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where she served as a core faculty member and academic advisor in the Psychology of Excellence program, which focuses on gifted education and differential psychology. During her time in Europe, she also collaborated with the Pädagogische Akademie Graz, Austria, and the Hochschule Basel, Switzerland, to design an international Master’s program in Gifted/Talented Education. |
Michelle Jones (Chapters Chairperson) Michelle has two gifted children and is the founding member of the Rockland County chapter of AGATE (GEAR). She also established gifted education committees in her school district's elementary and middle school's PTAs. |

Mary Kay Lewis (Vice President) Mary Kay recently retired from the Penfield Central School District where she served as an enrichment teacher and chairperson of the Gifted Education Department, coordinator of professional development, and teacher on special assignment in the role of differentiation coach. |

Price Amy Price is the Executive Director of SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted). She serves on the NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children) Parent Advisory Committee member, The Lang School Board of Trustees, and the Advisory Committee for MyGiftedGirl.com. She and her husband are raising two gifted sons in Dutchess County, New York. |

Mary Ellen Seitelman (Past-president) Mary-Ellen has been involved in advocacy for gifted children for more than 20 years. She has two adult gifted children, including one who is twice exceptional. She is a founding member of SAGE, the Shenendehowa Advocates for Gifted Education, a chapter of AGATE and helped to initiate their Saturday Scholars program which is in its 20th year. She lives in the Albany area and will be leaving the board December 2010 after serving for many years. |
Carol Ann Stevens Carol is an associate professor of education at Buffalo State College, where her responsibilities include developing and delivering courses in gifted education. She is the mother of two gifted sons, has extensive experience as a teacher of gifted and talented students, in developing gifted and talented programs and as an advocate for gifted education. |

Joan Winters Joan has been involved in gifted education since 1983, when she was a teacher in Portland, Maine. She has served on the board of directors of the Main Educators of Gifted and Talented, including two terms as president. |

Amy Zamkoff Amy has served as a teacher of gifted for over 25 years. While she began her career in Syracuse, she is currently in the Tully Central School District where she developed and is the instructor for the gifted program. |

DO YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
If you are interested in being on the Board, please send a brief description of your professional and educational background. Include a couple of reasons why you are interested in gifted education and how you might serve the AGATE organization.
Responsibilities include attendance at all Board monthly phone meetings and the one at the annual AGATE Fall conference and participation in a committee and/or supervision of one of the organization’s primary goals.
